Only second best?

My radar detector failed me today. I was coming off of Billie’s Mountain on US-6, right after the passing lanes end, when an UHP trooper in a Dodge Ram was coming the opposite direction. If he’d have been in a Crown Vic, I would have spotted him much sooner, but those Rams are damn hard to distinguish from non-police vehicles. My radar detector didn’t even go off until he was past me, but I saw his lights come on and he pulled to the shoulder to flip a u-turn, so I just pulled over and waited for him–I knew I was busted.
My speedometer needle sticks at around 75 MPH, so I wasn’t sure how fast I was going, but he said he clocked me at 81. He was a nice old guy–only wrote me up for doing 10 over, which saved me $75. The ticket is only $50, so it won’t hurt me too bad. I’m more upset about the blemish on my driving record, which has been clean for quite a while up until now. Eh, time to get a Valentine One.

  1. It’s the end of the month. Quotas have to be met! 🙂
I was pulled over at the end of March, and have to go to court for it next week Tuesday. The state trooper said he clocked me going 80 in a 55. I find it a little odd that he clocked me going *exactly* 80MPH…25 over the limit. I should’ve asked to see the radar, but I didn’t think of it at the time…dammit. 🙂

  2. I got pulled over a couple months ago coming out of Carbon ville road…I was with Big Mandy and she told me to slow down..did I..no. and I also got a ticket…but who cares about that. huh…LOL.

  3. Quotas indeed. =) Not only that, but they are doing some road construction near there, so anybody caught speeding gets double the fine. Luckily I was still several miles from the construction area. This is the first time I’ve seen so many troopers patrolling in a long time, so I’m sure it’s just the prospect of more money that got them out there.
You really gotta watch out for cops right there at Carbonville Road. Several years ago, I blew the stop sign at Main and Carbonville Road at 3:00 in the morning (completely on purpose–I didn’t even slow down for it). There was a PPD officer parked in that used-car lot or whatever it is, and I got ticketed for failure to yield. I’m still not sure who I was supposed to yield to–it was 3:00 in the damn morning!
