I’ve been seeing articles on this story about domain names being property, but I just read it for the first time today. I think the guy was a dick for registering umbro.com, then “allegedly” (I hate that word) demanding from Umbro a lifetime supply of their products and a big chunk of change. But I also think it’s a load of crap that Umbro sued (and won) for trademark infringement. I think as long as the guy wasn’t marketing products under the Umbro name, they should leave him alone. If I lived on Umbro Street, I wonder if they could kick me out of my house for trademark infringement. Because that’s all a domain name is: an address.
