Wrecked Jeep

Well, sheeeit. This afternoon Traci and I were lying on our bed and watching Breaking Bad when a loud crash came from outside. I was pretty certain it was from another vehicle hitting the Jeep where it was parked in front of the house, and I bolted upstairs and out the door to make sure the driver didn’t try leaving the scene. I ran out the back door and down the driveway to find my Jeep in the neighbor’s front yard and a red Dodge pulled over on the shoulder nearby.

The woman driving the Dodge was okay. The Jeep is almost certainly a total loss. The driver said she had reached down to grab her phone and looked back up to see a face full of Jeep. A sheriff deputy and a city police officer responded. After their brief investigation, I got the go-ahead to remove everything I could off and out of the Jeep. A tow driver dragged it up onto his truck and hauled it off. I spent about 30 minutes cleaning broken glass and plastic from the street and gutter.

Now begins the process of trying to replace the WJ. I’m apprehensive about the process of dicking around with the woman’s insurance company about the value of the Jeep.

  1. That was a good looking Jeep. When I went through it the other person had decent insurance and gave me what I think was fair amount. It was a little bit of a run around but not too bad. Are you going to replace it with another cherokee?

    1. Yeah, I’ll probably replace it with another Grand Cherokee. I looked at the classifieds today and it seems like that’s the best vehicle for my needs in my price range.

    1. I didn’t even try to start it after the wreck, they just hauled it straight away from my neighbor’s front yard.
