Subaru

I ended up buying that Subaru today. It runs really well and it’s in fairly good shape for its age. It’s an ’88 4-door wagon, 1.8L 4-cylinder engine (gutless), 5-speed manual transmission, power windows, power locks, power mirrors, A/C, and best of all, it’s 4-wheel-drive (with low-range even). And everything seems to work on it. So now I’ve got something to drive to work that won’t get me ticketed by the police or killed.

  1. Hmmm…. Going through a “practical phase.”
    I just can’t resist myself..
    Hahah….Dennis is driving a wagon!!!
    ahem….sorry ’bout that. πŸ™‚

  2. Most ugliest,” eh? “Your so stupid?” I don’t think anybody takes this type of criticism seriously from somebody with a third grade reading level. Oh, and when the value of cars becomes based solely on looks, please let me know–I’m anxious to see General Motors go out of business.
    And Ty: It’s not a wagon–it’s a lean, mean, off-roading machine. Ok, ok…it’s a wagon. =)

  3. Hahaha…. that was quite a rip on GM πŸ™‚
    And I can’t wait to go off-roading in that… it’ll be fun πŸ™‚

  4. Looks good, Subaru makes some pretty nice cars, even back then. make sure you touchup any dings it gets though, because they do have a tendency to rust out if you just forget about it.

  5. I am 36 and have never owned a vehicle that cost more than a thousand dollars. I love driving past these expensive rigs that have quit the trail. My favorite was driving past the monster truck boys in my Subaru Brat on the deer hunt and going right up the snowy hill that they had obviously tried…and failed. So don’t let these guys give you crap about your car.

  6. Hahah, I had an experience almost identical to that once. When I was about 6 years old, my dad took me and either one or both of my sisters (can’t remember for sure) deer hunting with him just a few miles from our house. We were off-road in our maroon ’82 Subaru GL wagon (very similar to my ’88), and we passed a guy in a Jeep stuck in the snow at the bottom of a steep hill. We just drove right past him and up the hill…it was pretty cool. Unfortunately, somebody had blocked the road at the top of the hill with some huge rocks, so my dad had to back down the hill, and he made us kids get out and walk in front of him just in case he lost control and slid off the embankment. I just thought it was so cool that our car passed a stuck Jeep, and that memory has always stuck in my head. =)
