I’m happy with the stability of my Abit motherboard, but the documentation fucking sucks. First, I had that problem with my RAM not being seated in the slot, and the fucking accompanying beeps that weren’t documented in the manual. Now, I found out that my soundcard wasn’t to blame for the drivers not working. The driver CD that came with the board has some driver that needs to be installed when using Windows 98 in order for some PCI devices to work. It would have been nice for that little-known fact to be published in the documentation, but I guess Abit expects users to poke around the driver CD until accidentally stumbling upon what they didn’t even know was there.
So now I’m listening to Tenacious D mp3s, which I missed so badly the past two weeks while I was only able to listen to CDs on my CD player. Fuck Abit.
