I was planning on planting a small vegetable garden this weekend, but I don’t think that’s a good idea quite yet. It’s snowing outside right now, and I haven’t been able to finish tilling the soil because of the rain we’ve had lately. I’m planning on growing everything I need to make a lot of salsa, except for maybe celery–I couldn’t find any seeds for that at the store (though I do have some in my spice rack). Traci wants some strawberries and watermelon, and I’m also growing spaghetti squash, cucumbers, and corn. The only thing that sucks is that we’re prepared to just stop watering the garden if the city enacts watering restrictions this year. They didn’t do it last year, though they probably should have, so I expect that it’ll happen this year.
Celery in salsa?
Heh…you asked me about that the last time I made it. =) I usually put about as much celery as I do onion, and it tastes damned good. It’s basically chopped tomatoes, onions, celery, garlic, and jalapenos, with cider vinegar and lime juice, salt, pepper, cayenne pepper, cumin, and oregano. I have a recipe, but I don’t really follow it–I just add the ingredients until it tastes right.
