Yeeeeeeah! I done got me a 3d card! 🙂 I ended up getting a Creative Labs Banshee 16 meg card. I’ve gotten it to work with Quake II, but not with Quake yet. I didn’t even know what the Banshee chipset did before I got it, but it’s a Voodoo II chipset with a 2d chip included, so there’s no need for 2 video cards. (By the way, anyone want to buy a Matrox Productiva G-100 8 meg 2d card?) 🙂
I’ll probably spend all day today after work trying to get it working with Quake, and I’m in the process of getting a copy of Unreal, so I’ll probably be trying to get that to work as well.
With Quake II, my screen is so dim I can barely see what to shoot, and I have the brightness turned all the way up. If I can’t find a way to brighten it up soon, I’ll have to take the card back and get a Diamond card instead. It was hard enough to find ANY 3d cards in Utah County, so if I do end up getting a different one, I’ll have to order it over the phone or something.
